Cyber Crime Awareness Programme at Sagar Group of Institutions — SISTec Ratibad


Sagar Group of Institutions' Sagar Institute of Science Technology & Research (SISTec-R) in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh State Cyber Police Headquarters organized a Cyber Crime Awareness Program with Chief Guest Ms. Richa Jain (Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cyber Cell), accompanied by Mr. Atul Shrivastava (Training & Internship Cell of Cyber Police).

The event hosted by Ms. Pallavi Dixit (First Year Engineering, Basic Science) started with her welcoming words followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting in front of Maa Saraswati. She then invited Dr. Jyoti Deshmukh (Director, Sagar Group of Institutions) and Dr. Manish Billore (Principal, SISTec Ratibad) to welcome the guests with a sapling as a token of remembrance.


Dr. Manish Billore addressed the gathering and welcomed the guests on behalf of the institute. He further shared the purpose of such events and how they can be beneficial to the students, and society at large. Moving on he handed the stage to Ms. Richa Jain for the presentation.

Ms. Richa Jain started with the basic question of what is cybercrime and further elaborated on various kinds of cybercrimes she and her team have come across. She presented various real-life case studies of OLX, Matrimonial, Catfishing, and Facebook frauds, and other types of digital transgressions. She explained about strong login passwords, dual-step verification, SSL and HTTPS certificates. She also briefed on security measures to be followed while using social networking sites by allowing only know friends to be added. She also shared information about cyber offenses that happened and how the criminals were nabbed.

The session duly planned and coordinated by Mr. Nitish Talwar (Media Manager, Sagar Group) was very well-received by all the participants. It aimed to create awareness on cybercrimes, cyber laws in India, do and don’ts, guidelines issued, key indicator identification, and early steps and indicators for its prevention in the cyberspace and virtual world. The awareness drive also enriched students on the protection of their personal data and its sharing on social media platforms.

The event concluded with Dr. Manish Billore presenting a memento to Ms. Richa Jain as a token of appreciation for taking out her precious time and conducting such an interactive session.
